Little Fey Fest

Project: Little Fey Fest

Type: Volunteer Steward

Location: Falmouth, Cornwall

Dates: 8th May

Little Fay Fest was run by a group of Creative Events Management Students, a family fun day aimed to bring in the local community to a student-run event. The day included a treasure hunt, crafts, workshops and entertainment which all pulled together to provide an exciting and inclusive event for all of the family with the proceeds all going to charity.

I was only a part of the team for the event day, arriving in the morning for set-up, working as a steward in various capacities throughout the day and helping with the close down at the end. This event enabled me to have an experience of working with different groups of the community having not been a part of events before which are primarily for children and their families. From this I was able to see the challenges of reaching a target market who you are not familiar with, however after the undeniable success of the event it was encouraging to see that whether or not the event managers may be a part of a certain social group doesn’t mean that they can’t reach them with a suitable event.

Working on this event I was able to improve my team work, working with a group of individuals who largely were new faces with new skills and also to observe positive volunteer management.
